The Untold Story of Hurricane Audrey – 50th Anniversary
This book was written by local author Donald Menard and should be considered one of the great reads to come from the area. It is filled with tons of great information including interviews with some of the Cajun people who went through the historic storm which hit Louisiana in 1957 along with some great pictures of the area and damage done by the storm. The books gives many historic facts about the actual storms and reports of its path and strength calculations now adjusted from original reports coming from the work of Menard. Right from the heart of Cajun Country Mr Menard put in an enormous amount of research time and his hard work shows in the excellent detailed writings of his book. If Cajun history and culture or hurricane’s interest you then this is a must read !
