Trick or Treat Time:
Oct. 31, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Punkin’ Patch. 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 28-31. Complete with hay bales, Indian corn, gourds, small barnyard animals, hundreds of pumpkins, fun jumps, and hayrides. One-hour field tours for Pre-K – second grade are available. Field trip include a movie on the life cycle of a pumpkin, story time, tour of the pumpkin patch, time with the farm animals, hayride and a snack treat. The cost of the tour is $3.50. Also available is a tour and professional photo taken in a decorated area for $7. Group tours can be arranged by calling 981-2088. The Pumpkin Patch Country Store will be open selling local arts and crafts, jelly, honey and a bake sale every weekend. Treats at the Village. 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29. This is an annual fall festival for people with disabilities and their families. There will be a costume contest held at 7 p.m. in the Village Pavilion, with prizes awarded to the top costumes in three categories: ages 0-6, ages 7-12 and 13 years and older. As part of the celebration, local businesses volunteer to decorate the houses in Acadian Village where they will hand out “treats” to event participants. Search for the Great Pumpkin. 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Children can visit different activity stations, wear their costumes and Trick-or-treat for candy. Trick-or-treating is for children age 12 and under. Crossroads Annual 2008 Jamboree. 5:30-9 p.m. Oct. 31. This is a family-friendly event with fun jumps, games, puppets, refreshments and a costume contest. Theme is Cajun, please no scary costumes. UL Symphony Halloween Concert. 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Orchestra members will be wearing costumes and the audience is encouraged to show up in their favorite Halloween costumes. Musical highlights of this year’s concert include music from the films “Spider-Man” and “Chicago”; Tchaikovsky, Arabian Dance from the “Nutcracker”; Gounod, “Funeral March of a Marionette” and Rossini, “The Barber (Rabbit) of Seville”.
